CREAMY RUSSIAN DRESSING
Bottled Wish-Bone Russian Dressing mixed with veggie mayo, fennel, tarragon and liquid smoke. It doesn’t take much to create a new dressing out of an old favorite!
Makes 1-2/3 cups
1 c. Wish-Bone Russian Dressing
1/2 c. veggie mayonnaise (I used Just Mayo brand)
1 t. finely ground fennel seed
1 t. dried tarragon
1/4 c. water
1 t. liquid smoke
Combine all ingredients in bowl. Mix well till creamy. Refrigerate till ready to use.
Notes: Drizzle over salad of choice. I used cut romaine, head lettuce, grape tomatoes, shredded cabbage and sliced celery. I sprinkled with celery seed and cracked pepper. Great! I love creamy dressings, and the Russian dressing is strong enough in acidity that adding a little mayo to it, takes away nothing. It’s a win-win.
This is one of mine and Steve’s all time favorite bottled dressings. Hope they never stop making it.
Just Mayo was recently sued by the Hellman’s Mayonnaise folks for using the word mayo on their label, stating that there were laws that governed what could and couldn’t be called mayonnaise. Essentially the mayo had to contain eggs. Hellman’s eventually dropped the suit. Thank you Hellman’s! Now develop a killer animal-free mayo that tastes great and I’ll buy it!
