Soy Delight had a few starts and stops during the pandemic, but they always seemed to make good on their promise that more is coming, because it always did.
Frankly I don’t understand why more local and mainstream shops don’t pick up their product, because it’s just that good, but what I’ve learned is that it’s not the quality but the terms that people get stuck on, no matter how much the public may scream for it, if the terms aren’t there, then the customer doesn’t get it. So that old adage about giving the customer what they want was a lie to make customers feel important, when they clearly were not.
I’m one of the lucky ones. I live within bus distance to two shops that carry it: Heinen’s and Whole Foods Market.
Heinen’s used to sell theirs plain or baked, now it’s only baked plus buffalo style.
Whole Foods used to do the same, but now they’re experimenting with deep fried.
Although the nuggets are the star, the dipping sauce measures up to the quality of the nuggets and it’s an AFC Original.
1- Cut the chilled buffalo nuggets into 2-3 pieces each.
2- Combine Daiya Blue Cheeze Dressing and Poupon Dijon Mustard in cup, using equal parts, or more or less of one or the other – in other words, to your tastes. I liked half and half.
3- Serve on an appetizer plate and listen for the gutteral noises coming from your guests.
