I don’t know the first thing about buckeyes, except that I’ve lived in the Buckeye State of Ohio since 1994 and it is now 2023. Steve brought this home, since we tried Mitchell’s Vegan ice-Cream in the past and liked it.
I’m not sure what a buckeye is but in doing a quick research it’s not a nut most people consume except when it’s roasted and loses it’s high tannin content.

To me it tasted just like peanut butter.
As it turns out, that’s what it was, peanut butter with a swirl of fudge running through it.

Although the buckeye ice-cream was the same high quality as Mitchell’s other vegan ice-creams I probably won’t buy it again, since peanut butter isn’t one of my favorite ice-cream flavors.
All the time I was eating it though I was wondering why the buckeye nut tasted so much like peanut butter. It was a deception. I know now that some sellers make candies that look like buckeyes but aren’t. And yes they make them using peanut butter and chocolate – just like Mitchell’s did.
